Directory submission is the work of listing a product on startup and software directories: filling in its name, tagline, description, category and link on each one.
It is repetitive, so it helps to prepare once: a tagline, a short and a long description, a logo, two or three screenshots and your categories. With those in a document, each submission takes a few minutes.
Quality matters more than count. Fifteen listings on directories that real people browse, in the right category, do more than two hundred on sites nobody visits.
Why it matters for a launch
It is one of the few marketing tasks a solo maker can finish in an afternoon and still benefit from a year later, through both referral visitors and backlinks.
