What is an Open Graph image?

Also called: OG image, social share image, link preview image

An Open Graph image is the picture shown when a link to your page is shared on social networks and messaging apps. It's set with the og:image meta tag.

The common size is 1200×630 pixels. X also reads the twitter:card tag, which should be set to summary_large_image for a large preview.

Networks cache preview images, so after changing one you may need their preview tools to refresh it.

Why it matters for a launch

A clear preview makes every shared link look like a real product and gets more clicks than a bare link.
