How to write a SaaS landing page that converts

Updated October 18, 2026

A landing page has to answer, in order: what is this, is it for me, does it work, what does it cost, and what do I do next. Lead with a headline that says what the product does for whom, show the product early, back it with proof, and give one clear call to action repeated down the page.

The sections, in order

  1. Headline and subheadline: what it does and for whom, in plain words. Under it, one button.
  2. The product itself: a screenshot or short video right away, so nobody has to imagine it.
  3. The problem: two or three lines in your customers' own words (from your validation interviews).
  4. How it works: three steps, each with an image.
  5. Features as outcomes: "Get paid faster" beats "Automated invoice reminders" as the heading; put the feature underneath.
  6. Proof: testimonials with names, logos of users, numbers you can stand behind, or a "Featured on" badge from launch sites.
  7. Pricing, or a link to it.
  8. FAQ: the objections you hear in sales calls and emails.
  9. A final call to action that repeats the first.

Writing the headline

The headline does most of the work. Use the same formulas as a tagline: what it is for whom, or what it does and the result. Read it as a stranger: if they'd have to scroll to learn what the product is, rewrite it.

One call to action

Pick the single next step you want, such as start a free trial or join the waitlist, and use the same words on every button. Offering "Book a demo", "Start free" and "Learn more" side by side splits attention and lowers clicks on all three.

Mistakes that cost signups

  • A clever headline that doesn't say what the product is.
  • No product image above the fold.
  • Features listed without saying why they matter.
  • No price anywhere on the site for a self-serve product.
  • A slow page. Compress images and keep scripts light; slow pages lose visitors and rank lower.
  • Asking for a credit card, a phone number and a company size before showing any value.

Make the page findable

Give the page a title and meta description that match what people search, an Open Graph image for when it's shared, and links from other sites so search engines find it. Launch platforms and directories are the quickest way to get those first links; see our startup directories list.

Frequently asked questions

How long should a SaaS landing page be?
As long as it takes to answer a visitor's questions. Simple, cheap products can convert on a short page; more expensive or complex products need more proof, detail and FAQ.
Should my landing page have a free trial button or a demo button?
Use a free trial or signup for products people can try alone, and a demo for products that need setup or are sold to larger teams. Pick one as the main button.
What is a good landing page conversion rate?
It depends heavily on the traffic source and the ask. Compare your page against itself over time: change one section, measure signups per visitor, and keep what works.
